5 Piece of Advice For Brides

Okay lets divulge again into pool of advice..As the season of marriages is coming closer, i am getting more excited to attend marriages organized by Ovations Event. Coming to the post, For a newlywed, the celebration and functions does not get over even after the wedding ceremony. 

There are so many post wedding functions that are planned just to celebrate the marriage. While you always had stylist and parlor assistance to take care of your hair and makeup till your wedding, you would not have the same luxury for the post-wedding functions. Here goes my quick piece of advice for would be brides who are busy with their jobs and who may face little problem just after marriage in new house. I am writing this post from my own experience..when i got married a year back i wanted to write it since that time 😀

#1 Learn to tie your hairs in few basic plaits, braids and messy bun. Open hairs do tangle a lot and create hassles during small functions which are going to happen after marriage as you would not have parlor assistance for all such functions.  My favorites  are fishtail braid and messy bun. I prefer to make side braids with small clutches. Other ones which could be learnt are cute pony tails and classic chignon. Get a idea here and there are tons of youtube videos as well for learning the same.

#2. Do invest in a few things viz bobby pins and cotton buds for quick smokey eyes, eye makeup remover, cleaning mascara mistakes, removing lipstick bleed  (they will be your best friends girl trust me) and curlers/straightners as per your hair type for those cool open hair styles.

P.S- For better grip, flip the bobby pin so that bobby pin is against you head. Look the photo below for reference.

#3.  If your hair’s are oily but there’s absolutely no chance you’re waking up early enough for a wash, apply baby powder liberally to hair roots before bed. The power will soak up the excess oil that makes your hair look greasy. As for black hairs, baby powder is too noticeable for you to apply it right before you leave the house. So, if you sprinkle it on your roots at night, the white residue will have time to fade and soak up the extra oil on your hair and scalp by morning.

#4. If you loved tinted moisturizers and you have problem in blending with foundation then BB creams are you best friends and they treat all kinds of concerns, offer SPF protection, act as a primer for makeup, cover minor blemishes and even out your skin tone. The one which could be used for daily use is Pond’s BB cream (i guess its formulated version of Ponds tinted moisturizer), Clinique BB Cream and Body shop ice cream.

#5. Do not rub your wrist after applying perfume as rubbing a perfume breaks down its molecules, diminishing the scent into thin air. Along with it girlies, apply your perfume behind ear, base of throat, inside elbow and inside wrist.

Quick Tip Of Day- Dry Nail Paint Quickly

Okay are you newly married? Are you college going? Or are you home manager or office going? Here comes a quick tip of the Sunday of drying nail paint fast. Yes, colors on nails love of every girl. I am not much into nail arts, however i keep trying different colors.

Before you start painting your nails, fill a mixing bowl with ice cubes and run cold water over the top. When you’re finished with painting, dip your nails in for about a minute. This is a great way to help protect against divots since it helps solidify polish all the way through not just on top.

Tip- The water should be ice cold and make sure there aren’t any actual cubes still floating in there and it is a tried tip by me.

Cuteness motivates our mind to reach the bottle and drink the water. And most important download app on your smartphone and lots more to track down your water intake and it also keeps alarming after every hour to drink water. Use Home Made Face Packs

From where does beauty begins? From Home . Our key to skincare also lies in our home. We commonly do not give importance to sunscreen in our daily regime. Even I often forget to dab it, only to end up exfoliating the life out of my skin in order to get rid of the Sun-tan. If you’re sailing on the same boat as I am, here’s a solution. Before you step into the shower, mix milk, Gram flour with lime juice, and apply it onto your face, hands, and feet. Sit still for 15 minutes and wash it off. Do it for 3 weeks and you’ll see your skin smooth and clear. Curd could be replaced with water.

Add exercise to your fitness regime

Look who is giving advice for exercise? Me? who runs away merely by mention of exercise. the fact is exercise may help you shape your body later, but it first impacts your skin.  Any form of workout such as a 20-minute run, 30 minutes on the treadmill, or even yoga boosts the metabolism and adds a healthy glow to the skin. And toned body is and additional advantage. And most important is i am completely against poping some Vit C or Zinc supplements to boost you skin. Go for a facial but don’t add extra supplements to your diet. So choose your options wisely.

Make a skin care regime

What do i mean by skin care regime? Are we not already having skin care routine? yes you may already be applying products to your skin but it is the time check the ingredients and invest thoughtfully. Most important is add a product with Salicyclic acid in your routine if you have oily or acne prone skin. Either a face wash with salicyclic acid or a face moisturizer with same. There are plenty of face washes in market which are easily available with salicyclic acid.

Next is don’t forget to moisturize and moisturize your skin along with applying sunscreen diligently. If you will start applying moisturizer by today then on your D Day your make up will not settle into fine lines, spread effortlessly and won’t flake. Don’t think that you shouldn’t moisturize because it makes the skin oilier. the natural oil-secreting tendency of skin actually reduces & makeup goes on so much more easily!. That’s a fact and accept it.

Be Happy and go for Facials 

Now here comes the most important of all. Be Happy and the end, Yes because fit body and a unhappy mind does not lead to a beautiful face. This is very important because when you are juggling with various things at a time in your wedding it is very important that you add few minutes to yourself as well. A simple trick is to add few minutes of meditation to you every day and you are done girl.

Coming to facials. Do you need facial? May be not. But you should have facial? Yes because it is the most easy way to calm down and instantly relax your muscles. Okay i love facials minus extensive massage of 45  minutes. Trick is go for heavier clean ups and not regular ones. Most importantly do go for more than one facials or clean ups. And do not try any new product on your face before 48 hours of your wedding.

Bridal Trousseau Inspirations

So a new day and a new post and it is about bridal trousseau inspirations from latest fashion weeks. It is the season of fashion weeks and you get generous details for trousseau of bride and groom as well. We are keeping a keen eye over Amazon india couture week 2015 which wrapped up and BMW india bridal fashion week 2015 which is going on and today was second day. The fashion weeks are visual treats, we are zooming, gasping and noting down the details. We were planning to separate post for both fashion weeks or for each designer. However, it could not be eventuated due to certain reasons (read laziness). So here is a compilation of few favorites of pieces.

India Bridal fashion week day 1 was in the name of  Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s Varanasi collection. the show was opened by Sonam kapoor and ended too. There were pieces with gota pati, mirror work, straight churidar with chicken work, embroided blouses, colour and ruffles. Here are some of our favs.

IBFW day 2 Tarun Tahilani’s Our Eclectic new world is worth mention. Grand silhouettes, sleek blouses, use of soft colours is simply breathtaking. The soft coloured saares could be used at friend’s wedding or evening dinners.  Our favs go here

And here we comes to amazon india couture week 2015 Our personal favs are from Anju modi’s exquisite collection Kashish, Varun Bahl and Manish malhotra. The collection from anju modi consisted of Voluminous lehngas, intricately embroidery and the use of multiple dupattas along with shararas and kurtas, on silk, net and velvet.

Varun Bahl’s show consisted of floral motifs across classic lehngas, sari gowns, anarkalis and pant suit in tulle, georgette, silk, sheer and crochet. Must-have list is the printed fitted jacket with floor-length sleeves. We have included pieces from Manish malhotra, Debarun, Monisha Jaisingh.

We can’t move our eyes from such stunning pieces. However in the above pictures we have merged pictures from different designers. Absolute favorite pieces. All the girlies and ladies take the notes of intricate designs and start formulations. There are tons of pieces which could be worn in reception/ Friend’s wedding/ coctail/ mehandit / wedding. Floral canopies/ Chuppah Ideas

So you all must have attended pheras of any of your friend, family or distant relative in your life or you have just entered in a wedding lounge and as you take a sitting, you get a nice fragrance of fresh flowers bracing your senses. Here we are talking about Floral canopies which are somewhat referred as Chuppah in formal language. Floral canopies are favorite for destination weddings and day weddings/functions. Chuppahs add instant breath of freshness and use of natural flowers like rose, marigold, marsala, lilies in different colors looks amazing. Plus they could be used for indoor as well as outdoor ceremonies. And ofcourse beautiful decorated canopy or arch would look fabulous in wedding photographs as well. There is long list of hangings props and decorations which we use while planning weddings and functions. Here goes the list of some of the beautiful hanging props. Hanging props enhances the beauty without much effort and attracts the eyes of the viewer.

Bird Cage

A very innovative and easy peasy idea to use as hanging decor. It is one of the famous trends flaunted in the weddings recently. Bird cage could be stuffed with various items which are of your choice. One could be candles and flowers. Candles instantly blow up the environment and soothes the eyes and flowers can never go wrong.    Ribbon Chandeliers

Ribbon chandeliers could be used in various manners and DIY ed easily. Ribbons could be used with motifs and could be modified with beads.       Pom Poms

One of the very basic and amazing ideas. Pom poms are made of tissues/papers in the shape of ball. The fun way to use pom pom is to modify them with flowers and the very eye appealing is use of sunflowers.
